Joseph’s “Divination Cup” or RasTafari Chalice Communion? A Study in Symbolic Language

Bob Relaxing at Hope Road with Siekop and Chalice
During kifl/parsha በኋላም BeKhw’allam/ Miketz מִקֵּץ we come across
Genesis 44:12 And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.
13 Then they rent their clothes, and laded every man his ass, and returned to the city.
14 And Judah and his brethren came to Joseph’s house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.
15 And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?

The first word of interest is “cup” גָּבִ֫יעַ gabiya or (hagabiya הַגָּבִיעַ) in Genesis 44:12
From a Hebrew concordance study we find:
gabia: a cup, bowl/Word Origin from the same as Geba (גָּ֫בַע A Levitical city of Benjamin)/ cup (5), cups (8), pitchers (1) confer with Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: & Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
also
Luke 22:10 And he (Yeshua HamoshiYah/Eyesus Kristos) said unto them, Behold, when you are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he enters in.

Upon further examination cup as gebiya differs etymologically from cup as couws כּוֹס
From a Hebrew concordance study we find:
kowc: cup/ small owl From an unused root meaning to hold together; a cup (as a container), often figuratively, a lot (as if a potion); also some unclean bird, probably an owl (perhaps from the cup-like cavity of its eye) — cup, (small) owl./ perhaps kindred with כִּיס, q. v.; Late Hebrew id.; Phoenician כסת; Aramaic כָּס, ; Arabic is Aramaic loan-word according to Frä171, but see DHMVOJ i. 27) — ׳כ absolute Genesis 40:11 +; כּ֯יֹס Proverbs 23:31; construct Genesis 40:11 +; suffix כּוֺסִי Psalm 16:5; Psalm 23:5 etc.; plural absolute כֹּסוֺת Jeremiah 35:5; — cup 2 Samuel 12:3; for wine Genesis 40:11 (3 t. in verse); Genesis 40:13,21 (all E), Proverbs 23:31; Jeremiah 35:5; שְׂפַתאכּוֺס 1 Kings 7:26; 2Chronicles 4:5; תַּנְחוּמִים ׳כ Jeremiah 16:7 the cup offered to mourners; figurative (wine-) cup of judgement of ׳י, from which the nations, or Israel, must drink Jeremiah 49:12; Lamentations 4:21; Psalm 75:9; חֲמָתוֺ ׳כ Isaiah 51:17,22; הַיַּיִן ׳כ הַחֵמָה Jeremiah 25:15, compare Jeremiah 25:17; Jeremiah 25:28; הַתַּרְעֵלָה ׳כ Isaiah 51:17,22; ׳כ שַׁמָּה וּשְׁמָמָה Ezekiel 23:33, compare Ezekiel 23:31; Ezekiel 23:32; Ezekiel 23:33; ׳יְמִין י ׳כ Habakkuk 2:16; by bold metaphor Babylon is such a cup זָהָב ׳כ ׳בְּיַד י Jeremiah 51:7; so of wicked persons, fire, brimstone, and burning wind are מְנָתאכּוֺסָם Psalm 11:6 the portion of their cup; ׳כ in good sense, cup of blessing Psalm 23:5 (overflowing); מְנָת חֶלְקִי וְכוֺסִי ׳י Psalm 16:5; יְשׁוּעוֺת ׳כ Psalm 116:13.

The second word of interest is “divine” נָחַשׁ nakhash in Genesis 44:15
from a Hebrew Concordance study we find
1) to practice divination, divine, observe signs, learn by experience,
diligently observe
, practice fortunetelling, take as an omen
1a) (Piel)
1a1) to practice divination
1a2) to observe the signs or omens
This word for “divination” is different from the קָסַם kawsam (confer divination Ezekiel 21:23.divine 1 Samuel 28:8. Ezekiel 13:9, 23; 21:29. Micah 3:6, 11. diviners Deuteronomy 18:14. 1 Samuel 6:2. Isaiah 44:25. Jeremiah 27:9; 29:8. Micah 3:7. Zechariah 10:2.divining Ezekiel 22:28.)
1) (Qal) to practice divination, divine
1a) of diviners of the nations, Balaam
1b) of false prophets of Israel
1c) prohibited

Through the study of Scripture by applying the correct etymology within the proper context, we see that the translations for the noun cup and verb divine can carry misleading connotations. Thus, we move forward and pose the question “What was Joseph’s ‘Divination Cup’?” We find some interesting correspondences by examining the culture of Ancient Egypt, in the time of Joseph, Hebrew Masoretic Text and The New Testament.

The Ebers Papyrus (ca. 1550 B.C.) from Ancient Egypt has a prescription for medical marijuana

Placing Joseph’s office in Egypt during The Hyksos reign, at approximately 1670 B.C. we find that Cannabis/Marijuana was a plant regarded as valuable for it’s properties. It is clear that marijuana’s psycho (soul)-active properties are admitted by modern science. However, it is crucial to keep in mind that Joseph worshipped Yahweh, and not the exoterically misinterpreted (rather than spiritually discerned types) “gods” of the Egyptians, of that time.
Genesis 39:2 And “the Lord” (Yahweh) was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian

Papyrus Ramassei III, col. 26:
Ramesseum medical papyri prescription translates: parsley, hemp and obey, in the dew of rest, wash eyes in that early in the morning
(Confer Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. also
Matthew 6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. Therefore, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.”)

Before proceeding into Masoretic Text, “as the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed and The New Testaments is The Old Testament revealed” we must note Acts 7:22 “And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.”
The first mention of Cannabis kaneh-bosm in the Old Testament appears with the prophet-shaman Moses. At the beginning of his shamanic career, Moses discovered the angel of the Lord in flames of fire from within a bush.
It is later in his life however, that a definite reference to cannabis is made. Sula Benet explains this reference as follows:The sacred character of hemp in biblical times is evident from Exodus 30:22-33, where Moses was instructed by God to anoint the meeting tent and all its furnishings with specially prepared oil, containing hemp. (excerpt Kaneh Bosm, Cannabis in The Old Testament,Chris Bennett – Tuesday, April 30 1996 )
article link: http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/1090.html
THE AUTHOR DOES NOT CONCUR WITH CHRIS BENNETT’S SYNOPSIS OF ASHERA, AS BENNETT DEPARTS FROM SCRIPTURE INTO PERSONAL SPECULATION, NOR RECOGNIZE ANY DIVINE INTENTION FOR US TO EMBRACE ASHERA, ISHTAR, ETC.ETC. WORSHIP, ASHERA’S RELATION TO SHEKINAH IS NOT A BLESSING, however the article makes many valid biblically grounded points. Reader must discern scripturally “line upon line..precept upon precept” not based on one’s own wiles (Confer Matthew 28:18 And Yeshua came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.)

Exodus 30:23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, (“The word kaneh-bosm has been mistranslated as calamus,..The error occurred in the oldest Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, the Septuagint in the third century BC, and was repeated in the many translations that followed.” Kaneh Bosm, Bennett, 1996)

Concerning The Mishkan משכן‎ “dwelling place” later Temple, we find in
Leviticus 16:2 And “the LORD” (Yahweh) said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

The Word “cloud” עָנָן `anan is defined as follows by the Hebrew Strong’s Concordance I.cloud, cloudy, cloud-mass
A.cloud-mass (of theophanic cloud) B.cloud (The root of theophanic is Theophany :θεοφάνεια (theophaneia,[1] meaning “appearance of god”), refers to the appearance of a deity to a human or other being)
Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon further a covering or a veil over heaven

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
H.I.M. Haile Selassie I “The temple of the most high begins with the body which houses our life, the essence of our existence.”

Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Yeshua HamoshiYah/Eyesus Kristos “Jesus” took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

The name “Ebers Papyrus” comes in fact from a distinguished aegyptologist, George Moritz Ebers,
born in a wealthy Jewish German family, the Ephraims, after whom is called the “Ephraim Palace”
a baroque mansion in the center of Berlin. Ebers bought to a Luqsor Arab the famous papyrus, the oldest
one known at this time (1864), dealing with health and medicine.

Thank you. George Moritz Ebers may have purchased and showcased The Ebers Papyrus. I don not have enough research to address Mr. Eber’s claim of being descended from Ephraim but I find it peculiar that he would claim Judaism bought not follow the principles of Torah, i.e. return to your neighbor what belongs to him. However, we should keep in mind Moses “Ma-Shu” was a Hebrew head of a fraternal order, learned in the wisdoms of Upper Ethiopia and Lower Egypt Gypt/KMT, in fact The book of Leviticus is a treatise dealing with health and medicine.

    Got to have Kaya now!!!

Shalom, InI pray that the brethren and sistren have had a beautiful Hannukah. The cannabis is essential to helping InInI to gain certain kinds of spiritual knowledge and wisdom to know what we need to be doing and the separation of good and evil spirits. That is why this wonderful plant has been given all kinds of bad connotations because they don’t want Igziabeher to lift the veil from our eyes. The evil spirits want us to be blind which will never happen.
