Biblical Reasonings based on The Teaching of Qedamawi Haile Sellassie
Shalom! In this Sabbath portion study, Parshah W(v)ayishla(c)kh (פָּרָשָׁה וַיִּשְׁלַח) “and he sent”, from the following (Derash [דְּרַשׁ] “search”/Sod [סוֹד] “hidden”) level of interpretation, it is again emphasized that we not only look outward at appearances but seek inside of ourselves to gain insight into the “Divine Mind/Word” (Debar (דָּבָר)/Logos (λόγος). RasTafari Talmud would like to make mention that this presentation that begins to explicate Christ Mysteries, again, a work in progress. We pray the writing will contribute, however much or little, to the intrinsic building up of our brothers and sisters. The study is merely an attempt that the author is making to disseminate what has been received through inspiration during study and reflection of the Sabbath Portion, we pray The Father forgive us, in the Name of Yeshua, for any errors that may be contained herein and (YAH Willing) will make every attempt to correct those brought to our attention in future publications.

It is interesting that during this study we notice that, in Genesis 32:30), Jacob sees “God Face to Face” Elohim Panyim EL-Panyim (אֱלֹהִים פָּנִים אֶל־פָּנִים) this is followed by “and my SOUL is preserved” wenastzal nepheshi (וַתִּנָּצֵל נַפְשִֽׁי). Again, in Genesis 33:10, Jacob likens his encounter with his estranged brother Esau to “as THOUGH I seen the face of God” beraat pani elohim (כִּרְאֹת פְּנֵי אֱלֹהִים). Futhermore, Jacob states “and thou was well pleased with me” wateratzani (וַתִּרְצֵֽנִי). We are taught in Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”, in other words The Higher Self cannot be in bondage to the Lower Self or material and serve HaElohim.
To elaborate on the point illustrated above, we examine the concept of Mahanayim (מַֽחֲנַיִם) “Plural for those who encamp, Body of people”. This concept is introduced in the conclusion of the previous Torah portion: Genesis 32:1-2 ” And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God’s host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim” The Scoffield Study Bible has an excellent note and a key to begin understanding this reality: two hosts, or bands — the visible band, Jacob and his servants; the invisible band, God’s angels. see. 2 Kings 6:13-17 . NOTE: THIS INTERPRETATION OF MAHANAYIM, WITHIN IN THIS PRESENTATION, IS MOSTLY APPLIED IN THE ESOTERIC “INNER” SENSE. IT DOES NOT CONSIDER THE MANY OTHER VARIOUS AREAS IT COULD BE APPLICABLE TO, WHICH IN AND OF THEM SELVES WOULD REQUIRE AN ENTIRE STUDY. (i.e. strategy in warfare, investment and commerce, etc. etc.)
Thus, it may be interpreted that the ‘2 Bands” are to distinguish the reality of “the heavenly” (the state from which Adam fell from/ NOTE: Edom (אֱדֹם) is derived from the root Adam [אָדֹם]) “and the earthly”/or Spiritual and Mental (or knowing good and evil in the mind [tree of knowledge of good and evil; see Genesis 2:17]).
Chapter 32 of Genesis, in type, is depicting the reconciliation between the Heavenly (or what Jacob is his/our spiritual growth had begun to reap “the fruit” or substance of) and the Earthly (or Esau). Of course, this process is mediated by Yeshua HaMashiakh “Jesus Christ”/The Tree of Life”. In parable this is pronounced in the New Covenant reading for this Sabbath in Matthew 26:28-29 compare Genesis 3:22)
Jacob (or our developing New Nature, in Christ, Jacob’s fullness being newly named Israel and our’s being RasTafari) confronts Esau (our old carnal nature/ or the physical/material based urges), which is not without it’s proper place (see Genesis 33:16) as the body is required to manifest good in the phi-cycle plane but we must recognize it’s divine order in design and function. This symbolism may also be applied to us as member in The Body of Christ, in relation to those around us. Qedamawi Haile Sellassie teaches “Discipline of the mind is a basic ingredient of genuine morality and therefore of spiritual strength. Spiritual power is the eternal guide, in this life and the life after, for man ranks supreme among all creatures. Led forward by spiritual power, man can reach the summit destined for him by the Great Creator.” also “He who would be a leader must pay the price in self-discipline and moral restraints. This details the correction and improvement of his personal character, the checking of passions and desires and an exemplary control of one’s bodily needs and desires”
The pattern of this process is revealed through this parashah study, through layers of typology and symbolism. We read that Jacob sends “messengers” (malakim [מַלְאָכִים] Angels) of new found spiritual Truth (see Genesis 28:17/ also RasTafari Talmud Article Vayetze: http://wp.me/p3yx8F-ku ) hoping to find Grace (hen חֵן) in Esau, or that YHWH’s Grace (yohanah יוֹ חַנָּה) has found Esau? From a psychological (Soul/Word/Science) perspective this would be equated to The Mind (Jacob) directing entreaties to the Autonomic Nervous System (Esau) or nerve impulses (Angels) between brain and the plexuses via neurotransmitters though neurons axons and synapse circuit. The current concepts of unalterable processes of the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic requires re-examination, in the light of The Scripture based Science (Gnosis).
Subjectively (from an internal sense), Jacob became uncertain from the response of Esau via the Parasympathetic Nervous System, which corresponds to the not yet fully regenerated thought driven nerve impulses (Bio-Feedback Loop) that triggered “a fight or flight response” in Jacob, who was still lacked full Faith in the WORD of HaElohim, thus susceptible to “the Message of Esau meeting him with 400 men” delivered through the Sympathetic Nervous System. To put this in terms of the objective: this depiction may be likened to the resistance or debate we encounter from people whom we attempt to share, the Testimony of Qedamawi Haile Sellassie in Christ, with. In the process of our Spiritual Growth, like Jacob, we may become fretful or even doubtful “double minded” of the Truth we have received (James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.) This in “modern psychological” terms is referred to as cognitive dissonance, which pathologically may result in schizophrenia. This is typed, in Genesis 32: 7-8, as Jacob the substance he had gained into 2 bands (in this sense, the mental and physical plane). Genesis 32:9-11 demonstrates that when we find ourselves in such circumstances, sincere prayer in supplication is how we overcome. (NOTE: special consideration should be given to the prayerful mention of “passing over Jordan with my staff“; please refer to The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary available for download from Parashah Vayetze Article)
In Genesis 32 verse 13, basically Jacob was “stressed” but two words deserve a Hebrew study so that the subsequent depiction might be better understood. The words being “lodged”(luwn לוּן: to lodge, stop over, pass the night, abide/to complain, cause to grumble) and “night”(layil לַיִל: night (as opposed to day)/of gloom, protective shadow FROM THE ROOT luwl לוּל staircase, winding stair, shaft or enclosed space with steps or ladder) The Hebrew word luwl, for the purpose of this study, might very well indicate the Spine and the Sciatic Nerve, whereas “ladder” (Genesis 28:12) Sulam (סֻלָּם) would more likely indicate the “sephirot”/energy centers in the body.
Verses 14-21 Jacob again sends his “messengers” with “gifts” (affirmative) thoughts to pacify Esau. Take note of the quantity of each type of animal delivered. For Spiritual interpretation compare Metaphysical Bible Dictionary with following Link: http://www.biblemeanings.info/Words/Animal.html . When the higher self is striving to harness the lower self it must approach this task firm but with gentle patience and with prayerful thought. Extreme physical ascetic practices are not encouraged for ones coming into Christian Spirituality development. This wisdom is two-fold in the application both in the self and when interacting with others. Qedamawi Haile Sellassie teaches “In explanation of the notion ‘gradually’: unless it is through coaxing a child and getting it accustomed, it will not be pleased if one takes from it what it has seized with its hand. When one gives such a baby any sort of food, it will not wish to eat it, unless one shows it to the child and lets it taste it. Unless they give it milk or other soft food until it grows teeth, it will not be able to eat when they place bread or meat before them.”
Before expounding on Jacob wrestling with the unnamed man/angel. We would like to examine the place of this occurrence Peniel/Penuel being equated with the Pineal Gland. Mystics have referred to this small endocrine gland in the vertebrate brain as the seat of the soul, while others say it is the “third/first” eye where I person is able to contact God”. From the author’s academic research and existential experience there isn’t any sufficient reason to deny this claim. However, we would like to examine how this might be so by looking at the Word it is derived from. In Hebrew, Pĕnuw’el (פְּנוּאֵל) is a compound of 2 words Pana (פָּנָה: to turn towards) and EL (אֵל: Power). Looking at the Ancient Hebrew Glyphs of Pe (פ Glyph-Mouth: Speech/Word) Nun (נ Glyph-Sprout: Grow) He (ה Glyph-Man with Arm raised: Look/Reveal/Breathe); Aleph (א Glyph-Ox Head: Power) Lamed (ל Glyph-Shepherds Staff: Teach/Towards). Although, the author notes that the vowel pointing of the Masoretic Hebrew may be insufficient to fully decipher the entire Ancient Hebrew root words, there is sufficient evidence provided above to indicate that the Pineal Gland is Word Activated. (See John:1:1 compare with Genesis 1:1 in Hebrew Text see Parashah Bereshith Study Notes: http://wp.me/p3yx8F-ih ) John 6:63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” and 1 Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to Adonai.”
Futhermore, approaching this matter from the ancient science that Moses was learnt in (Acts 7:22) we see (in the diagram below) that the “Super Structure” (Structure Above) of the Pineal Gland is shaped very much like the “Eye of Heru”. Examining the structure surrounding: the Thalamus which is responsible for the relaying of sensory and motor signals to the cerebral cortex, and the regulation of consciousness, sleep, and alertness. ( THE PHYSICAL Black Dot: NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE SPIRITUAL BLACK DOT Aleph-Taw) we are able to discern the hieroglyph for mouth (which the “Medu Neter” has ascribed a “R” phonetic to.) Additionally, in the endocrine system, the regulator for homeostasis complementary to the nervous system through the utilization of hormones, the Pineal Gland works in conjunction with the Thyroid Gland (located in the throat or 5 Sefra “Chakra”) which is related to speech.
A fuller revelation of (Genesis 32: 24-32), Jacob wrestling with the “unnamed man/angel” is a bit complex and would require a prerequisite study of The Mishkan “Tabernacle” layout/Tabernacle Instruments in relation to the Sephirot in the context of The Temple of Man as representing the 7 Seals in Man along with a basic familiarity with the “Qabalistic Tree”. YAH Willing, we will get into a more in-depth study of this subject during Parashah Terumah. However, an interesting point that have been brought to attention by a RasTafari brethren belonging to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is that in the Amharic word Amlak (አምላክ) “God” we can see the word Malak “Angel” (መላክ) from which we see the word Melkam “Good” (መልካም). Also, in Hebrew we have the word Melek (מֶ֫לֶך) “King” NOTE: The author accepts as true that attempting to comprehend the “Qabalistic Tree”, without seeing Yeshua HaMahiakh on The Tree/Cross, giving us access to the Tree of Life, can be likened to eating from The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. In a sense, the “Qabalistic Tree” is representative of “The Invisible Church” or The Body of Christ, which Yeshua HaMashiakh steers at The Head (see John 1:3).
For the present, suffice it to say, that as we practice the Spirituality of The King of Kings Qedamawi Haile Selassie through the Discpline of Studying The Way The Truth The Life of Our Lord and Savior Yeshua HaMashiakh (a type of “wrestling” in it’s intial stages), our vibrational levels (frequencies) are raised up. The energy from the Solar Plexus Sefra (Nerve Center) moves upward towards the Heart Sefra “Beth-EL”, represented in may spiritual systems as the Shield of David but might actually be more correctly referred to as The Star of Jacob as revealed in Numbers 24:17 “I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. (Please see Metaphysical Bible Dictionary regarding the Corners of Moab and the Children of Sheth). This may be a key to comprehending the touching of the “hollow of Jacob’s thigh (Root Sefra??) and it shrinking ” (Genesis 32:32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day)
Another interesting contemplation is related to the planetary alignment in relation to Christ on the Cross as THE PATTERN. We see the Sun, often associated with the Solar Plexus, over the Heart. Thus, we, as members of The Body of Christ, should be aware of our “vibratory” level, as it evidently acts as a “force field” or aura. Could this be why Esau responded to Jacob in the manner which he did in Genesis 33?
1 Corinthians 13:2 ” And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.
Qedamawi Haile Sellassie ” I would tell a person who was considering the claim of Christ for the first time that it is necessary to have faith in the Almighty, that it is necessary to have love, and that it is necessary to conduct oneself in a manner that we have been taught to do in the Bible.”
Love: Agape (ἀγάπη affection, good will, love, benevolence, brotherly love):Selfless Love.. compare with Eros (ἔρως desire, bodily/sensual passion, lust) Selfish Love
Amos 9:11 In that day will I raise (Quwm קוּם) up the tabernacle of David that is fallen (Naphal נָפַל), and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build (Banah בָּנָה) it as in the days of old:
