Parashah Noakh פָּרָשָׁה נֹחַ Sabbath Portion 2 Study Notes Part 1

“However wise or however mighty a person may be, he is like a ship without a rudder if he is without God. A rudderless ship is at the mercy of the waves and the wind, drifts wherever they take it and if there arises a whirlwind it is smashed against the rocks and becomes as if it has never existed. It is our firm belief that a soul without Christ is bound to meet with no better fate. The love shown by our God to mankind should constrain all of us who are followers and disciples of Christ, to do all in our power to see to it that the message of salvation is carried to those of our fellows who have not had the benefit of hearing the good news. (October 28, 1966/IMPORTANT UTTERANCIES OF H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I 1963-1972. Page 486-490.)

RasTafari Midrashim, in the Name of the King of Kings Qedamawi Haile Sellassie and His Christ Yeshua, would like to extend to all a perfectly good and blessed (K)Chesw(w)van חֶשְׁוָן, (the new month 2nd in the Hebrew civil lunar year/8th according to the Hebrew Ecclesiastical Calendar.). As we proceed to navigate, with Christ at the helm, in this present corrupt world filled with violence throughout the present cycle/”year” Shannah (שָּׁנָה) of Sabbath Study, may we be mindful of the Word given to us in James 3:4 “Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.”

We find during this Torah study that the “Ark” [Tebah (תֵּבָה):Note that Moses was also placed in a Tebah to preserve his life and placed in the water (in this sense the water may have symbolized a alternate aspect of the element: see Revelation 12:15) during a time when (Spiritual?? [see Deuteronomy 28:68, Hebrews 8:9, Revelations 11:8] Egypt had fallen)] that Ha-Elohim instructed Noah to build is in an Old Testament “type” of Christ we see this confirmed in Matthew 11:18 “Come to me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” His Majesty Haile Sellassie, furthermore, proposes “who can resist an invitation so full of compassion?” Furthermore, in Genesis 6:14 we find that the Ark is to be constructed with “Gopher Wood”: compare with Chapter 104 of Kebra Negast “And as concerning the Ark: God saved Noah in the Ark. And God held converse with Abraham in the wood of Manbar,  that is to say the wood that cannot be destroyed; and He saved Isaac by means of the ram which was caught in the thicket; and He made Jacob rich by means of three rods of woods which he laid in running water; and through the top of his staff Jacob was blessed. And He said unto Moses, “Make a tabernacle of wood which cannot be destroyed, in the similitude of Zion, the Tabernacle of the Covenant.” And when David took it from the city of Samaria, he placed the Tabernacle of the Law in a new Tabernacle, and rejoiced before it. For from the beginning God had made the Tabernacle the means of salvation, and very many signs and wonders were performed through it by its form and similitude. Hearken ye now unto me, and I will show you plainly how God had ordained salvation through the wood of His Cross, in the Tabernacle of His Law, from the beginning to the end. Salvation came unto Adam through the wood. For Adam’s first transgression came through the wood (see also 1 Corinthians 15:45), and from the beginning God ordained salvation for him through the wood.  For remainder of explication please see link: http://www.sacred-texts.com/afr/kn/kn112.htm

C.S. Scoffield and other biblical scholars are correct in pointing out that the word “pitch” Kapar (כָּפַר) in Genesis 6:14  (“and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.”) is defined as: atone for sin and persons by legal rites, make atonement for  to be covered over; to make atonement for. Romans 5:11 declares “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Adonenu Yeshua HaMashiakh), by whom we have now received the atonement.” Thus, we see another foreshadow of the sacrifice of atonement by Yeshua HaMashiakh which gives us the proper standing, even legal, with Yahweh.

During this study we see that the flood “waters”, consisting of the rain from the Heavens and the fountains of the earth, that purged the wickedness of the time may be interpreted as a type of baptism or spiritual separation of the “Just/Righteous” Tzadyiq (צַדִּיק ) from the corruption of evil imaginations so prevalent, even in our present worldly environment or the modern wiles of secular philosophies and behaviors [see Genesis 6:9] as in the context of Noah’s Walk or Conduct Halakah (הֲלָכָה)/”Conversation”: anastrepho [ἀναστρέφω]” see Ephesians 2:3″ ) with Ha-Elohim. The baptism as a member into the Body of Christ presents us as Tzadyiq as Romans 5:18 proclaims “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” The baptism is not merely a ritualistic outward act of submerging in water but to inwardly transform our minds so as to not to be conformed to the chaos of worldly perceptions but to be conformed to the Divine Logic revealed through the Word, as in Ephesians 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,” Knowing this, by Faith, is to discern between what is Holy “Set Apart” (Qodesh קֹדֶשׁ) and profane.

Then the contemplation is does our separation conclude with baptism? The answer might be found by posing another question: Did the Israelites reach the Promised Land immediately after crossing The Red Sea (another type of baptism/See also Joshua 13-16). A reasonable conclusion would be: NO! They were to be proved by their halakah “trod”. An interesting illustration of this trod of Faith is found in Matthew 14:22-33, when the Apostle Peter saw Yeshua walking on the water and Peter got out and began to trod, attempting to reach Our Master. A wind blew and Peter sank as he began to fret. As Peter lost his focus on Yeshua he sank. The wind, in this depiction, might be better comprehended when compared with Ephesians 2:2 “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:”

Another interesting aspect of this study is found in the New Testament reading of this portion, in particular 1 Peter 3:20 “Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.” Could the eight souls foreshadow a type of the Ages? Additional Comments:

It is evident from Genesis  9:4 “But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat” and Romans 8:20 “For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,” that in a cleansed world we are to sustain our nutritional needs by adhering to a vegetarian/Kashrut or “Ital” lifestyle.

The Babylonian “Falsely so-called ‘Jewish'” Talmud is absolutely incorrect to interpret Genesis 9:22 “And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without” as Noah being castrated by His Son Ham. This is obvious when taken in the context of Leviticus 18:6-21 which begins to set prohibitions against sexual immorality.

Jeremiah 3:17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the YHWH; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the YHWH, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart

For skeptics of whether this event actually occurred there is sufficient analysis performed by modern Logistics Engineers that the dimensions of the Ark is structurally sound to endure the description of the flood. See video below. (Author NOTE: However certain specifics of the Logistical account RasTafari Midrashim would tend to differ in opinion. For example, the animals taken into the Ark being of every specifies found on earth today, as suggested by the Logistics Engineer, does not seem to be scripturally sound. We are inclined to agree with Scoffield that the clean and unclean animals taken into the Ark are more likely to have been those  10 such beasts mentioned in Exodus but 70 in all. This would also lend  further credence to the analogous metaphor of the 70 nations {The Jewish Midrash (Tanchuma 26c) said that the earth was divided into 70 languages.} (or in general the Sacred Fractals Thesis found in the Word proposed by Rebbi Yad Veshem/Ras Iadonis Tafari based on Ezekiel 1:16: The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.)
